Always present on his mat...
full of self-love for all.
What drew you to yoga?
Back in Fall 2016, I stumbled into a yoga class with a friend and I didn't know the difference between a yoga towel and a yoga mat and I showed up to the studio with just the towel... let's just say it didn't go well the entire practice. I somehow returned back to another class on my own this time and the teacher never cued us to open our eyes back up after she told us to close them at one point, so I did the entire class with my eyes closed because I thought that was how yoga worked. Even though I got a good laugh at myself, - I kept returning practice after practice, day after day. I was hooked by the idea of using my breath to power through an experience that was physical, mental, and spiritual. I actually frequented many of L I T Luminaries classes at studios across the city before the inception of L I T Life + Yoga, until eventually following many of them here to practice in the very first L I T class as a STUDENT. I've never looked back since, and here I am teaching along with many who influenced my very journey!
Why do you practice?
I practice because it's the only time where I feel like I can finally create space in myself - so that I have space for others when I'm off the mat. So that I can be present in everything that I do. And because it's been a place for me to heal, to grow, and to evolve.
(Life+) How does yoga change you off the mat?
Yoga has absolutely changed every aspect of my life. You'll hear me say it in almost every class - I fully believe that Yoga is SO much more than your body and the physical postures (asanas). Just as YOU are so much more than your body. I've learned to take nuggets of information from my physical practice and bring it off the mat and into the world. It's shaped how I view myself and the world around me, how I manage my energy, and truly how I live my every day life. To me, yoga has many definitions.
What is your style?
I like to make the corny yoga joke that my class style is called 'Vinny-asa'. I come from a background in practicing and training in vinyasa. But I do like to put my own twist on things. I focus on always coming back to the breath - even and especially when holding in poses. My style involves a whole lotta self love and body positivity. I promise to always meet my students exactly where they are. I offer lots of modifications, as well as space for students to explore poses in new ways so that you can either take away or add on to make the practice your own. All bodies and souls are welcome - even if you're new or feel you're "not flexible enough."
Where are you when you’re not teaching?
I currently work full time in marketing, as well as launching a health+life coaching program soon to take on clients of my own! When I'm not balancing all of those hats, you can likely find me in some sort of workout class across the various Columbus fitness studios. In the space between, I sneak in visits to local breweries and restaurants. All to wind down the days with my man and our 2 dogs. Rinse and repeat.
What illuminates you?
Influencing others personal journeys - whether that be in yoga, their health, or any aspect of their lives. I've learned from my own journey, that in this life time I'm meant to help others and lead by example. I light up every time I hear or witness change happening in other's lives. I'm especially illuminated by the idea that I'm really just getting started and I'm right there on a journey with all my students.
