Strong, purposeful, sexy...
What drew you to yoga?
My cousin teaches Ashtanga in San Francisco and asked me to join her in Tuscany for a yoga retreat she was hosting back in 2012. At the time, I knew nothing about yoga but I blindly traveled to Italy, not knowing what to expect. We ended up practicing asana, pranayama and meditation for three hours every morning for a week and just like that, yoga pushed its way into my life and I have not looked back.
Why do you practice?
I practice so I don't lose my shit.
(Life+) How does yoga change you off the mat?
Man, where do I even begin? If I think back to the person I was before yoga, I picture an angry, sad and lost individual. This practice has continually shown me that I am capable of growth and humility. That as a human, I have flourished into a more level-headed and compassionate entity. Yoga changes me to be the person I needed when I was struggling.
What is your style?
I'd say I teach a pretty sexy class, if we're being honest. I encourage my students to move with a fluidity that empowers the body and mind. I teach the way I practice, and I practice with slow and juicy movement.
Where are you when you’re not teaching?
I am most definitely spending time with my two dogs, whether that's binge-watching Netflix together or tearing up some trails in the woods. If I am not with the dogs, you can probably find me at a concert or heading to the airport. 😉
What illuminates you?
You know that look your students have when they come out of Savasana? Whether it's tears, smiles or solace...THAT. THAT is what illuminates me.
