What drew you to yoga?
I had no clue what I was getting myself into. But in the best way…
It was 2013, I was out of college, trying to figure out adulthood and figured I should find some kind of fitness routine. So yes, I started yoga with the mindset that it was a workout. I was hooked immediately, line and sinker. I was amazed at the physical strength vinyasa style practices brought me and the emotional release (literal tears) savasana brought me. Fast forward to 2017 and I found myself enrolling in a full immersion training in Costa Rica where I would spend a month in the jungle studying this practice.
Why do you practice?
I practice because of the strength yoga brings, I practice because of the community it comes with, I practice for my health and I practice because it allows me to be in awe of myself.
(Life+) How does yoga change you off the mat?
Since beginning my yoga journey, it has taken me to places I likely wouldn’t have gone before with my multiple travels to Central America. I have had the blessing of connecting with SO many like-minded, yet diverse individuals and I have gained an expanding love of what makes us all unique, but connected. As well as the beauty of impermanence.
What is your style?
My style is typically power-based, fun and fast paced. I encourage laughter, falling and not taking it too seriously. You have to be willing to fall on your face if you’re going to learn crow pose, right?...However, there is so much power and force in a slower pace practice and yoga nidra mediation with the ability to dive deep into who YOU are.
Where are you when you’re not teaching?
When I’m not teaching or practicing, I am exploring my newest yet most favorite role…being a mom! My son Noah, husband and dog typically get my time and attention as much as possible. I also work in the hospitality industry as a Catering Sales Manager for a Hilton. I LOVE to travel and be outdoors as much as possible.
What illuminates you?
Taking care of self…mind-body-spirit is what drives and illuminates me. How can I live on a daily basis to keep this vessel working and healthy, to have a life enjoying my loved ones. Getting out of the hustle and grind and living slow illuminates me.
