What drew you to yoga?
I ended up in my first yoga class very shortly after leaving a dance studio. It was something I thought would have similarities with ballet, at least the movements, so I started practicing with YouTube videos. I went to my first class in a gym, nervous as ever. By the time we laid down, I realized how immersed I’d become in the entire thing. The physical challenge along with that of shifting my focus more towards breath eventually drew me in.
Why do you practice?
It feels good and I love to move.
It provides time to step back and also push or play towards what scares me. Day to day life can seem very over and underwhelming sometimes, and this practice serves as a means to help me rest from and also navigate that.
(Life+) How does yoga change you off the mat?
Yoga helps me gain a different outlook, both of myself and others. It teaches me how to connect better.
What is your style?
Definitely explorative. My classes nudge you a little closer to your edge. Whether it be sitting lower, moving different, or inquiring further; the focus is being curious of and extending the comfort zone.
Where are you when you’re not teaching?
Preferably cuddled like this: Cat|me|dog
What illuminates you?
Seeing people exceed their limits, shift perspectives and do things they didn’t think they could. Animals. Fruit. The beach. Dance. Bubbles. Family.
