Remains cool & clever…
grounds you with purpose & strength.
Why do you practice?
I practice yoga because I like the person who shows up on the mat. I feel a mental, physical, and soulful rush during and after my practice that stays with me and truly helps guide me to be the best version of myself. It is also a wonderful balance to the fitness portion of my life.
(Life+) How does yoga change you off the mat?
Yoga has been transformational in my family, personal, and professional life as they are always connected. I use to rely on my strength and athletic ability to move through and push into different yoga poses or body movements. What I have learned is that I once I began truly listening to what my body was telling me; I learned patience and began to stop judging the “failure” of not achieving the pose. This is when my practice began to truly evolve. Deepening into yoga also has led me to Ayurveda, breath-work practices, and a consistent meditation practice.
What is your style?
My teaching varies between a vinyasa flow class and a slow/power burn class to add a mix leveled of movement and sensation for the practitioners. Each class is sequenced around a theme for the day/week with the intent on building an experience and deeper connection on and off the mat.
Where are you when you’re not teaching?
I am always teaching. You’ll find me in the early mornings teaching group fitness, during the weekday building vendor programs and consulting solutions, spending time with my amazing wife and soulful daughter, and everyone once in a while kicking back and enjoying some local IPAs.
What illuminates you?
Family. Plain and simple. They inspire me do what is necessary to live my best life. Teaching and coaching is that next layer of glow for me. There is something magical in having the opportunity to provide your light and guide a person or group to go from “I can’t” to “I did” in their practice just by removing whatever that doubt obstacle was. There is no such thing as obstacles in your path. The obstacles ARE the path.
