Gentle in breath...
yet large in her flow.
What drew you to yoga?
I started a daily practice to manage my blood sugars and to stay active. Since I never liked going to the gym, yoga offered me the strength to support my body but I also noticed how calm my drive home from yoga was and how that calm would last the rest of my day. After years of a physical yoga practice I became drawn to meditation and the mental practice of awareness and focus.
Why do you practice?
I practice to have more patience with the people I love. Being on my mat keeps me connected to my practice so that I can continue to share my practice with my students.
(Life+) How does yoga change you off the mat?
My yoga practice helped me find a diet that compliments big movements in my body and food that keeps me energized. I am also a much calmer driver on the road and more compassionate.
What is your style?
I weave simple shapes together with creative transitions and a focus on each breath. I love flowing through breath-by-breath movements and balance them with holds in sweet stretches.
Where are you when you’re not teaching?
I'm at home with my cats Mondy & Theo reading a book about the singularity. If it’s a new moon, I’m probably pampering myself with face masks and bubble baths.
What illuminates you?
Sharing a lot of vegan junk food with good friends.
