OGUNMOLA
Teacher of the elements...
... Just call him Captain Planet
What drew you to yoga?
I first attempted yoga because a friend convinced to go. It didn’t go well. I fell out of child’s pose, the teacher was speaking in tongues, I went hysterically blind……but it was just sweat in my eye. It was a beginner class. The unexpected relaxation at the end is what caught me. I was back the next week.
Why do you practice?
I practice yoga for momentum. It binds everything in my live together from friendships, career, and hobbies and moves them all forward.
(Life+) How does yoga change you off the mat?
Yoga allows me to slow down and approach everything with a little more calm and a lot more discipline.
What is your style?
My style is about contradiction. My classes have a clear focus and structure towards the goals of creation and learning. With the caveat that you have permission to say fuck it and do what you want at any moment. The duality promotes growth while fostering freedom and self-awareness. All to a dope soundtrack.
Where are you when you’re not teaching?
When I’m not in the space you’ll probably catch me at doing some type of fitness (Parkour, tennis, spinning, rode biking, CrossFit…..) or on a patio with a margarita in one hand and a Game of Thrones novel in the other.
What illuminates you?
What illuminates me is seeing people achieve what they weren’t sure was possible. Being challenged & learning, especially through discourse. Sci-Fi, music, movement, & my daughter!
