What drew you to yoga?
I was originally drawn to yoga as a way to restore while I was playing volleyball, but found that yoga was way more than just a physical practice for me. It became a physical challenge to teach my body to react in a different way than in sports, but also became a way to escape the stresses of school and life by being forced to slow down and BREATHE!
Why do you practice?
I practice now because I got addicted - during the height of the pandemic, I was looking for a reason to leave my bedroom where I was living, working, sleeping + relaxing at all hours of the day. Finding a studio that was open in-person was a lifesaver and I found myself there nearly every day. I love the feeling of everyone being a room working towards a common goal of being more in touch with themselves.
(Life+) How does yoga change you off the mat?
Off the mat, yoga has made its way into my life by helping me be more open to new experiences and ideas - I never thought I’d be able to even attempt some of the crazy arm balances we do, but now the challenge draws me back week after week!
What is your style?
My teaching style is challenging but playful! I hope I’m able to cater to both experienced practitioners AND beginners.
Where are you when you’re not teaching?
Outside of yoga, I’m usually working towards my engineering degree! Outside of that, you can find me reading, painting by numbers, planning my next trip, or SUPing!
What illuminates you?
Dogs, travel, cooking, and eating.
