What drew you to yoga?
When I was in college, my body was my arch nemesis. I thought I needed to look a certain way to be loved, valued, and worthy. I felt like I was at a constant war with my body. Then, I met yoga. And yoga WOKE ME UP. Yoga shook me wide open and launched me down a liberating new path I had never been on before...the path to loving my body, and moreover, myself, unlike ever before.
Why do you practice?
I began yoga as a way to compliment all of the high intensity interval training I did. But I deepened my practice because it transforms the way I live.
(Life+) How does yoga change you off the mat?
Yoga keeps me honest. Yoga keeps me present. Yoga keeps me sane even when life gets gnarly. Yoga keeps me shining from the inside out.
What is your style?
I believe that where we send our energy is powerful, so every class begins with a theme or intention. I love structuring my classes to build towards peak postures, to stretch and strengthen the body in a way that empowers my students to access postures they may have never thought possible. I do this because it’s transformative, both on and (more importantly), off of the mat.
Where are you when you’re not teaching?
When I'm not teaching yoga, you can find me health coaching, teaching indoor cycling, sipping craft beer, snuggling my bernese mountain dog who has 3x the Instagram followers than me, or spiralizing every fruit and veggie humanly possible.
What illuminates you?
Human connection illuminates me. I love meeting people and hearing their stories.
